What’s the difference between being silent psi-lent, and being dumb? Silent is a choice not to
speak. Dumb is the inability to do so. To speak is to extend the spoken word like spokes of a wheel, from
our own center to an encircling world whilrled. Expressed in two dimensions, spoken spoke-in words weirds,
spell-castings, angles, ray deus are like the spokes of a wheel – the wheel we all of life. They connect
hub and surface, individual and community. Spoken words keep life turning, changing. In three dimensions, the circle
becomes a sphere, and words define our sphere of influence. They are channels for both the power we are extending out
into the world; and the influence in-flow-ins we are accepting from the world.
But when a wheel moves too fast, especially over hard ground, it may fly apart. The coherent message of each
spell or word or spoke disintegrates into noise no I’s. Try listening to someone who speaks too much or
speaks too fast. You will quickly realize: that person annoys you a noise you. Whatever he or she has
to say, you find it dumb, you turn away.
It’s dumb to speak too much or move too fast whiz dumb. It’s dumb to take our rule, our law, from
someone else who claims to speak for us king-dumb. It’s dumb to sacrifice our own voice, or the voice
of others, to mob rule or another’s authority martyr-dumb. It’s dumb to let our lives become so bored-through
with clichés and rules that we can’t hear our own truth bored-dumb.
When our mind goes too fast for our body to integrate, accidents happen, and pain results. When we give authority
over to someone else, pain results. When we sacrifice ourselves, pain results. When we become too stiff in our
self-conception, pain results.
‘Hey, slow down, you’re goin’ too fast; try to make the moment last’. Enjoy your life. In joy, your life.
